April 12, 2006: Elder Services asks for State Representatives to sign on to Amendments supporting additional funding for Home and Community-based services.

Below please find the text of 8 proposed amendments to the House Ways and Means FY 07 budget, seeking additional funding for their respective line items.

We at Elder Services ask your support and that, if possible, you sign on to these amendments.

FY 2007 House Ways & Means Budget Amendments Supported by Mass Home Care

ECOP 9110-1500

Mr. FESTA moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1500 by striking out the figure "$42,831,919" and inserting in place thereof the following figure, "$48,570,844."

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING 9110-1604

Mr. CORREIA moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1604, by striking out the item in its entirety, and replacing it with the following item: 9110-1604 For the operation of the supportive senior housing program in state or federally-assisted housing sites………………………………..$3,737,572

HOME CARE SERVICES 9110-1630

Mr. FESTA moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1630 by striking out the figure "$102,920,113" and inserting in place thereof the following figure, "$117,534,456"

CARE MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS 9110-1633

Mr. SANCHEZ moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1633, by striking out the figure "$39,311,751" and inserting in place thereof the following figure, "$47,163,309."

ELDER PROTECTIVE SERVICES & MONEY MANAGEMENT 9110-1636

Mr. CORREIA moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1636, by striking out the figure "$495,000" and inserting in place thereof the following figure, ":$1,153,004" and by striking out the figure "$13,656,546: and inserting in place thereof the following figure: "$16,818,056."

GERIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES 9110-1640

Ms. L’ITALIEN moves to amend the bill in section 2, by adding the following new item 9110-1640:9110-1640 For community-based, geriatric mental health services for persons enrolled in the state home care program whose mental disabilities place them at risk of losing their ability to function independently in community settings, pursuant to regulations promulgated by the executive office of elder affairs………………$2,750,000

FAMILY CAREGIVER SERVICES 9110-1650

Mr. RUSH moves to amend the bill in section 2 by adding the following new item 9110-1650:9110-1650 For the Massachusetts Family Caregivers program to provide supportive services to individuals who are providing uncompensated care to people over the age of 60 to allow them to remain living in the community, as state matching funds for the National Family Caregiver Support Program pursuant to the federal Older American Act…………………………………………………..$1,950,000

ELDERLY MEALS 9110-1900

Mr. DONATO moves to amend the bill in section 2, item 9110-1900 by striking out the figure "$5,237,000" and inserting in place thereof the following figure: $5,698,850."
